Wings of Joy: A Tribute to Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam

On October 13th, 2024, Yuva Bengaluru organized "Wings of Joy" at Bandhavya Makkalu Sevashrama, celebrating the legacy of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. Known for his visionary ideas and commitment to nurturing creativity in young minds, Dr. Kalam continues to inspire generations, and this event sought to reflect his ideals through creativity, engagement, and joy.


The event began with a warm welcome, followed by an inspiring address from Mr. Sunil BV, who emphasized Dr. Kalam's lasting impact on education and innovation. Children from the orphanage enthusiastically participated in a series of activities designed to foster creativity, teamwork, and essential life skills. These included a memory game, a colorful rubber band sorting contest, and a handprint activity symbolizing unity and imagination. And also emphasised on hygiene. 



The primary objective of "Wings of Joy" was to ignite the creative potential of students, reflecting Dr. Kalam's philosophy of encouraging innovative thinking. Through engaging activities, the event promoted active listening, memory skills, and hygiene practices, creating a fun yet educational environment.


Key outcomes include the children enthusiastically participating in the activities, showcasing their creativity in memory games, handprint art, and the rubber band sorting contest. These activities allowed them to explore new skills while having fun, stimulating both their minds and imagination. The event effectively promoted essential life skills like memory, teamwork, and hygiene awareness. Through active participation, students developed problem-solving abilities, focus, and coordination, enhancing their overall learning experience. The handwashing demonstration, successfully emphasized the importance of personal hygiene, reinforcing good habits among the children.


As Mr. Sunil BV remarked, “Through acts of kindness, we carry forward Dr. Kalam's vision of an empowered and compassionate society.” The event concluded with prize distribution and a meal shared with the children, spreading joy and inspiring futures, just as Dr. Kalam envisioned.


This event not only honored Dr. Kalam’s legacy but also empowered students to explore their talents, encouraging the spirit of innovation he cherished.
